SPY: Another look inside the forthcoming 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class (R 231)

First pictures and information about the new SL-Class should emerge late next month, as Mercedes-Benz plans to officially introduce the roadster on the stage of the NAIAS Detroit in January 2012. We've seen dozens of spy photos up to now, so there is no need to insist upon the progressive design the R 231 generation will sport or the technologycal package the open-top model from Stuttgart will incorporate. Our attention is now drawn towards the interior of the new SL-Class, which we happen to have seen in several scoops from the past (see LINK 1 and LINK 2).

Destined to be one of the pioneers of the brand's future interior identity, the 2013 SL will align itself in accordance to the tripolar focus philosophy that incorporates three basic dashboard stylings: one for limousines, one for SUVs and one for sports cars. The model that paved the way to the new design approach, the SLS AMG, will also stand as inspiration for the SL, as it already did for the SLK. Nonetheless, the large 'Sport Leicht' will feature a wing-shaped dashboard, four air vents resembling a jet fighter engine, a massive centre console with all the commands being intuitively arranged and an elegant instrument cluster with the two main, oval indicators. Trying to analyze underneath the camouflage might be a challenging job, but it is quite easy to remark designers have applied a unique personality to the new SL-Class in order to avoid confusions with the SLS or the SLK.

SPY: The interior of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W 222) uncovered ... again

During summer, we posted the first-ever spy shot depicting the futuristic dashboard of the forthcoming S-Class (see HERE), due at the end of 2012. Not many things have changed since that moment, as the prototypes still carry a provisional version of the final piece. While the instrument cluster and the central display of the infotainment system come straight from the F 700 prototype, we know the Stuttgart flagship is bound to receive a revolutionary interior architecture which combines strategic elements previewed on the F 700, F 800 and F 125! research vehicles. Both interesting and intriguing are the looks of the new and uber-classy centre console, defined by a large piece of wood and displaying four circular vents and an evolved variant of the HVAC system. Because of the heavy cladding, other visual details of the dashboard still remain hidden to the naked eye.

SPY: The 2013 Mercedes-Benz B 25 AMG snagged in Affalterbach

Mercedes-AMG will enter a new dimension with the advent of the new generation of compact models from Stuttgart. The first-ever A-Class AMG version will be released by the end of 2012, and if it wasn't enough, the already unveiled B-Class is also included in the plans of the Affalterbach tuning firm.

The sports tourer will receive the same underpinnings like its hatchback sibling, meaning a new 4x4 powertrain and a new 2.0-litre engine developed in cooperation with Hyprex. Combining several clever supercharging technologies, the petrol unit making the world debut on the forthcoming A 25/B 25 AMG variants will boast impressive performance figures, such as 350 hp maximum output and best-in-class values for peak torque and top speed. Both models, alongside the standard A-Class and B-Class, are expected to hit Stateside showrooms in 2013.

SPY: The Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W 212) in for a mild update ahead of 2012

The W 212 generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been on market since early 2009 and now the German company plans to give the business limousine a minor refreshment for the upcoming 2012 model year. Basically, the visual makeovers will affect the front fascia, that is to receive revised headlamps equipped with LED technology as optional extra (visible through the inner design of the quad lights) and differently shaped daytime running lights. Probably, the 2012 E-Class will also receive Merc's newest assistance systems and will suffer slight efficiency improvements to the engine lineup as well.

SPY: The 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG gets ready for the LA Auto Show premiere

The upcoming generation ML 63 AMG has been a rare sight since test prototypes hit streets in 2009, as not many spy spotters managed to catch it in action. If the standard M-Class is already out, then it's time Mercedes-Benz unleashed the fast and furious ML 63 AMG as well.

It was recently reported that a definitive decision was made to reveal the car at next month's Los Angeles Motor Show in the United States. When it's launched, the new ML 63 AMG will be powered by the 5.5-litre biturbo V8 unit with up to 525 hp/700 Nm in standard specification. If the client decides for more juice, then the optional AMG Performance Pack will solve the deal thanks to an increase of 33 hp/100 Nm up to 557 hp/800 Nm in the engine peak output/torque. All that gargantuan power will be sent to the four wheels with the help of the ingenious AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT-7 gearbox. Zero to 100 km/h will take approximately 4.5 seconds, whereas the top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h.
