Formula 1 returned to the Italian track of Monza this weekend for the big European finale of the 2011 season. The two practice run-ups scheduled for Friday got underway under sunny, rather hot weather conditions, which enabled every team to have a fruitful racing activity on the circuit. As always, Michael Schumacher felt at home on the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza and performed substantially better than his team mate. He ran a total of 21 laps during FP1, finishing 11th, and no less than 39 laps for FP2, coming home 3rd, which is also the best result of the day for MERCEDES GP PETRONAS. On the other hand, Nico Rosberg faced a gloomier stage as his single-seater encountered some persistent KERS problems. Completing 53 laps altogether during the practice rounds with these recurrent issues, he was ranked P18 after the first session and P22 after FP2.
